Susan Schellberg Art

My lifelong love of art began during frequent childhood visits, to New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art. Drawing and painting have been a part of my life from an early age and have always been one on my greatest joys. Painting provides a way for me to enter another world and to be completely in the moment. I studied art and art history in college and have continued to study throughout my life. I always carry a sketchbook with me and enjoy doing fast gesture sketches of people engaged in everyday life. Many of these sketches have become the basis for later narrative paintings. I am mostly drawn to line and color and what pleases my eye. My work has been in juried group shows and solo shows in Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia. I have won awards for works in oil and watercolor.
